Photography
has been one of humankind’s most popular activities. You can see people taking pictures
anywhere. However, most or some of these people are not photographers nor
interested in photography. They just love recording the people and events in
their lives for their future enjoyment.
But according to a photography book I have read, one good thing about photography is that
you don’t need to know all about it to make good pictures. If you love bringing
back good pictures of what you see for others to enjoy, you just need a camera,
fancy or not, and some basic techniques , the secret of seeing or having a good
eye and a good taste, probably.
There is more to photography than meets the
eye.
Photography is Both an Art and a Craft
It
has been said that one of the great things in photography, is that you don’t
have to deal with it more than you want. It is an artistic pastime that can
provide joy for a really long time, for you through doing it and for others
through the pictures that are created. Several photo-artists even dedicate
their lives to photography.
Photography can be whatever you want it to be.
Whether a means to record the people and events in your life, a hobby, a
science, a passion, an art, or even a career. Photographers capture precious moments
in an artistic way.
Above all, it has been argued whether photography
is a craft or an art.
Based on definitions, art is something unique, while a craft is
something that is created and can be repeated again and again.
Obviously, Photography is a craft, but it's not that simple. If you
give photographers the same camera, the same subject and the same lighting, more
often than not, you will still get various and unique images. Many can learn
the craft but not all can take it to the next level and create the art.
With this, it is safe to say that in my opinion, photography is both a craft and an art.
